Role: Console Programmer

Start Date: Immediate.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Salary: £23,000 - £27,000 /year.
Holiday: 28 days including Bank Holidays.
Required education: Degree Level/Graduate or relevant industry experience.
Required experience: 1 Year Industry experience

Location: Dundee, remote to begin with.


We’re expanding our wee talented team! We’re looking for a Console programmer to help us push our games to a new level of amazing. You’ll be working with our programmers, designers and artists on projects like Oddworld: SoulStorm and on our own brand-new internal IP project. As a console programmer, you’ll be helping bring games to consoles to be experienced by players around the world. You’ll have a key eye for details and have a good understanding of what makes a game feel great.

Working across Consoles, PC, Mobile and VR/AR, on projects like Rick and Morty: Pocket Morties , Oddworld: SoulStorm and Dish Life: The Game

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working within Unity and C#
  • Experience in using Jira or similar for managing work and time

Desirable

  • UE4 experience and C++ 
  • You have shipped a game before
  • Experience developing a game for consoles

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent C# and Math skills
  • Experience of Git and associated clients
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Great interpersonal skills, being able to listen to and understand problems as well as being able to give constructive support to the team
  • Friendly and approachable with a calm demeanour that supports a relaxed work environment
  • Can beat Dan, our art lead at Smash

Duties and tasks

  • Profiling and optimizing critical code
  • Prototyping new gameplay mechanics that can be iterated upon
  • Complete TRC/XR/Lockcheck passes on games
  • Implement animation, audio, and visual effect systems
  • Maintain a high level of good project and coding practices
  • Work closely with our code, design and production leads to prioritise feature development
